Steve Murray
Founder and Relationship Adviser
Steve Murray is one of the founders of Mather & Murray Financial and has spent many years helping people feel more confident about their financial decisions.
His guiding belief has always been simple: everyone should have access to clear, professional financial advice and the support they need to make informed choices throughout life. Those choices may involve arranging a mortgage, protecting an income or family, planning for retirement, investing for the future or considering wills, trusts and estate planning.
As Steve begins to take a step back from the day-to-day running of the business, he remains closely involved in building and maintaining client relationships. He is often the first point of contact for new clients, taking time to understand their circumstances, objectives and wider priorities before guiding them through the next steps.
Steve then works closely with the most appropriate members of the Mather & Murray team, helping to ensure clients receive advice that reflects their individual needs. His personal approach allows clients to feel supported from the outset, while giving them access to the wider knowledge and experience of the firm.
For Steve, effective financial planning begins with listening. He wants to understand not only a client’s financial goals, but also what is happening in their life now and what they hope to achieve in the future. This helps the team build a plan around the person rather than simply focusing on individual products or transactions.
Many of the relationships Steve has developed over the years have led to introductions from existing clients, something he sees as a reflection of the trust placed in both him and the wider team.
Steve has lived in Cricklade for more than 25 years. He recently moved to a new home in the town with his wife, Lynne, and their two dogs, Tinker and Zosia. As he approaches a new stage of his own life, he remains committed to helping clients enjoy theirs, knowing they have an adviser and support team looking after their interests.
